fundamental overview of
the history and
philosophy regarding
fire prevention. Class
will investigate the
organizational and
operational aspects of a
fire prevention bureau
including the use of
fire codes,
identification and
correction of fire
hazards, and the
relationships of fire
prevention with built-in
fire protections
systems, fire
investigation, and the
positive effects of fire
and life-safety
education

Construction for Fire
Protection. (3)
Studies the components
of building construction
that relate to fire and
life safety. The focus
of this course is on
fire fighter safety. The
elements of construction
and design of structures
are shown to be key
factors when inspecting
buildings, preplanning
fire operations, and
operating at
emergencies.
